Kevin Furlong moved to Colorado in 1990 from Simi Valley, California. He was a professional snowboarder for several years and rode for Solid and Unity snowboard companies. Kevin has been a long time auto enthusiast; has owned and restored a 1966 Mini Traveller and recently has undertaken another project… a 1963 Mercury Colony Park Station Wagon. Kevin is a graduate of Denver Automotive and Diesel College. He has worked at a Jeep/Chrysler Dealer, a Land Rover Dealer as well as several independent shops. He has his ASE Master Technician Certification to complement twelve years of on the job experience. Kevin drives a 1999 Jeep Cherokee. He is something of a hometown hero in the Front Rage skateboarding scene. Kevin started working at Independent Motors in the fall of 2009.
Kevin Hohman grew up in Jefferson County, Colorado. His first automotive industry job was changing tires at the age of 16. Kevin has always been a Jeep fanatic and has owned and repaired a J10 Pickup, a Wrangler, and multiple Cherokees and Grand Cherokees. He started as a technician in 2002, and began working as a service advisor in 2005. Kevin is a hobby metal fabricator, an avid snowboarder and a frequent concertgoer. His dog Seamus is also a staff member at the shop, most days Seamus is in the front office to greet everyone. Kevin started as Service Manager for Independent Motors in September 2009, but can still be found changing tires or performing a quick repair regularly.
Mark Steele, our parts manager is a Boulder native. He lives in Erie, Colorado with his wife and three children. Mark got his start in the automotive parts business in 1990 with Broadway Automotive, a local Boulder auto parts supplier. Mark comes from a long line of car enthusiasts; his Grandfather raced stock cars and was a Police mechanic. Mark can be found four wheeling, camping and spiffing up his Jeep Cherokee when he isn’t hard at work in the parts room. His years of professional experience in the industry and personal experience with his own vehicles have ensured that he sources the best parts for your car and your wallet.
Tony Madrigal has been a technician at Independent Motors since 1983. He was born and raised in Boulder Colorado. Tony has factory training from several Schools and was one of the first 100 Nissan Certified Master Technicians in the United States. Tony has been a Nissan Master Technician for nearly 40 years! Tony is also an accomplished Subaru and Toyota technician, having worked on both makes for a mere 27 years or so. When Tony isn’t at work you might find him riding his Harley, fishing or spending time with his family.
Chris Brandt is of the most recent technicians to join our team at Independent Motors. He has worked at numerous shops during his decade of service as an automotive technician. Chris is a graduate of Lincoln Technical School and currently holds five ASE certifications. Chris has extensive technical training in electrical and drivability analysis of Japanese and Domestic vehicles. He is also fairly well versed in the Volkswagen and Audi arena. Chris enjoys spending time with his family, riding his Harley Fat Boy. He also likes to tinker with vintage electronics and guitars, which he repaired professionally before becoming an automotive technician.
Randy Schubert is our resident Honda expert. Randy is a Colorado Native, born on the Front Range; he has lived all over Colorado. Randy has 35 years of experience as an automotive technician, 12 of those years as a Honda Certified Master Technician, 7 of which he was a Honda Gold Level Top Technician. Randy has held ASE certifications for more than twenty years. Randy is an emissions expert. He has extensive Toyota Factory training and is one of our top Subaru technicians. Randy is an avid cyclist and can be found riding his motorcycle to work, even on those days the rest of us feel the need to warm up our cars.
Mason Hammond is our resident front end/alignment expert here at Independent Motors. He lives in Nederland, Colorado. Mason is also an expert Subaru technician. He holds seven ASE certifications in addition to his experience as a Hydraulic Repair Technician and Fabricator. Mechanically inclined from a young age, Mason has been repairing all manner of things professionaly since the age of 16. We also rely on his experience to help guide our customers that live in the mountains for prioritizing their repairs and giving them first hand information on which tires they can count on to get them up and down reliably in all the weather conditions the State of Colorado has to throw at them. Mason enjoys spending time with his family and working on his own Subaru and Toyota vehicles.
